How do estate gate passes work without an app?
Short answer
The resident creates a pass for their visitor, with an expiry time, and sends them the code. At the gate, security types the code into a web page on their own phone and sees straight away whether it is valid. Neither the visitor nor the guard installs anything, and every check is logged. That is how Ledge gate passes work for Nigerian estates.
After you create your account, email hello@ledgeapp.co and the Ledge team switches on estate mode for you.
The method
How to run visitor passes for an estate
Agree who can issue passes
Residents for their own visitors, the estate office for staff and contractors.
Match the expiry to the visit
An hour for a delivery, a day for a guest, longer for a contractor on a job. A pass that never expires is a key.
Give security one page to check
One web address on the guard's phone, one code to type. Anything harder will be skipped at the busy hour.
Log every check
Who was let in, on whose pass, and when. The log is what the committee looks at after an incident.
Cancel passes that are no longer needed
When a contractor finishes early or a resident changes plans, cancel the pass rather than waiting for it to expire.
| Pass type | Expiry |
|---|---|
| Guest | 1 hour to 7 days |
| Delivery | 1 hour to 7 days |
| Contractor | 1 hour to 7 days (up to 30 days from the estate office) |
| Staff | 1 hour to 7 days (up to 30 days from the estate office) |
